Dick Warren; made ice cream and smiles at Cape Cod shop
Vanilla and chocolate were the most popular of the dozens of flavors Dick Warren made each summer at Four Seas Ice Cream in Centerville, but he put as much care into each taste that cooled a customer's tongue. "Our caramel is all just caramel," he told the Globe in June 2005. "I'm a little bit of a snob about ice cream. After all, I've been at it for 50 years." A high school English teacher and guidance counselor in the off-ice cream seasons, he took as much interest in the students he hired to work at Four Seas as he did in the work, hosting employees for a ski weekend each winter. Earlier this month, Mr. Warren traveled from his winter home in Sarasota, Fla., for the gathering, then stuck around in New Hampshire to ski with friends. He died Saturday en route to a hospital after a skiing accident in Bartlett, N.H., at the Attitash resort.
CDC: Gulf Coast Trailers Have Toxic Air
In 2006, some occupants began reporting headaches and nosebleeds. The complaints were linked to formaldehyde, a colorless gas with a pungent smell used in the production of plywood and resins. Commonly used in manufactured homes, formaldehyde can cause respiratory problems and has been classified as a carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and as a probable carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Last May, FEMA officials dismissed findings by environmentalists that the trailers posed serious health risks. They said the trailers conformed to industry standards. By August, about 1,000 families in Louisiana asked FEMA to move them to other quarters. In November, lawyers for a group of hurricane victims asked a federal judge to order FEMA to test for hazardous fumes.

For whatever reasons--Snyder understood what I was trying to do with the book, or he drew easily on his life experiences, or he was a warm personality or just a good questioner--it was the best interview I did. After a disastrous stillborn conversation with All Things Considered, it was heartening to know I could get on someone 's wavelength. Even if Snyder was faking it--especially if he was faking it--I'm grateful. Britney Spears
Sam Lutfi was finally served the restraining order yesterday that effectively requires him to stay 250 feet from Britney Spears and have no contact with her whatsoever. The restraining order was set to expire today, but the judge in the case extended it to March 17, according to the AP: In court papers, Jeffrey Wexler, an attorney for her father, James Spears, wrote that "after three weeks of apparently evading service," Lutfi was served at 11 a.m. outside his Los Angeles apartment.
The order, which requires Lutfi to stay 250 yards away from Spears and her home, was set to expire Friday. Wexler had asked for the order to be extended. Poor Sam Lutfi. He must miss Britney Spears. I bet he walks in on random pap smears just to remember the good times. Surprisingly none of the women really cared until Sam started throwing Cheetos at them and screaming "Where's the checkbook?! I'll feed you to Satan!" Then it got a little weird.

Two-wheeler riders tend to lose control over their vehicle when they pass these bumps. For car drivers it is another speed beaker on the road. No move has been made by the council to begin the repair of these roads. Similarly, the department recently repaired a road cave in Phase XI. Here the sewerage pipes were changed following the cave in. The department filled the 10-foot wide road cave in with loose earth. The MC has to repair the road but residents are still waiting. .
Complaints against police nearly double
In all, 88 officers were investigated internally since 2005, and 27 received some form of discipline. In that time, at least eight police officers were either fired or left the department, and five were suspended for at least one shift.The number of allegations isn't so large when put into perspective, said police Sgt. Robb Harry.Two-thirds of the investigations conducted during the three-year period led to no action because the employee was found to either have done nothing wrong or there was not enough evidence to support allegations of wrongdoing.Of the rest, most of the discipline was minor: oral or written reprimands. About 15 percent resulted in suspensions, resignations or firings. No officer was demoted during that timeframe.The increase in complaints comes at a time when the Police Department is already facing questions about its image.

[UPDATE 2] On February 20, Schappert unveiled a massive new Community Gaming program at GDC which will let indepedent developers create and upload their own games onto Xbox Live. .
