| Wildcats win eighth straight game, 2-1
Power plays were the difference in the game," Wildcats coach John Bowkus said. “We killed off a couple of theirs and were successful on two of our own." Detlefsen gave the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage 7:14 into the second period, with Kyle Delaurell and Adam Cardwell picking up assists. Later that period, Salazar scored a power-play goal, his team-leading 15th with a man advantage. Fairbanks' Nick Guran beat Mike Jarboe with 3:15 remaining, but it was the only puck that got by the Wildcats' netminder. Jarboe finished with 35 saves. The Wildcats, enjoying an eight-game win streak, have pushed their lead in the NAHL South to seven points over idle Topeka. .
2007 Saturn Vue Greenline FWD Hybrid SUV Review
"Go green for little green" is the thought behind Saturn's first hybrid, the Vue Greenline. It's a light gasoline-electric hybrid - meaning that it never operates in electric-only mode - but it does have all of the other fuel-saving benefits of a hybrid vehicle. Once the engine is warmed up, it usually shuts off at a stop, depending on load and conditions. An electric motor/generator provides extra power when needed for acceleration, and recharges the battery pack when slowing. It also improves braking performance with the magnetic drag from that regenerative braking. This adds up to, according to Saturn, an approximate 20 percent increase in fuel economy for a price premium of only $2,000. Expect more Greenline models in the Saturn lineup, and elsewhere in the GM family, in the future.

President Bush was meeting with the Fed chairman, Ben Bernanke, and the treasury secretary, Hank Paulson, Friday to discuss ways of boosting the economy. A breakdown of Friday's official U.S. data showed that during December, manufacturing industries shed 31,000 jobs and construction businesses cut another 49,000. There were 31,000 more government jobs created and 44,000 were added in education and health services, but retail industries cut more than 24,000 jobs. Weekly hours of work were unchanged at 33.8 in December but overtime hours dropped to 3.9 from 4.1 in November. School District Braces For Big Budget Cuts
A shortage of state money is forcing some school district leaders in Duval County to make some tough decisions about looming budget cuts. Officials said they expect to have to trim as much as $18 million from their budget for the remaining school year. School district spokeswoman Jill Johnson told Channel 4 the district might have to cut $6 million to $7 million when state lawmakers meet next month. .
N.S. bylaw will ban smoking in cars with kids
For two generations and millions of tax dollars it is clear that anti-tobacco organizations have completely failed and now are off-loading their responsibillity to the police with by-laws of this type. If these advocates knew what they were doing then these measures would not be needed. To date the media (with advertising bans), convenience stores and bars are doing the work of anti-tobacco advocates. Oddly, those that do the work are the only ones that don't get government funding. Anti-tobacco advocacy is a disgrace and these incompetents should no longer get a penny of tax funding. If anti-tobacco advocacy is failing because they are constantly being outsmarted by tobacco companies, then there is a simple solution. Fire all of the stupid anti-tobacco advocates and replace them with people that can actually do the work.
Campaign scrambles to explain errant 'e'
1:30 P.M. A news release is e-mailed from a campaign spokeswoman. The colorful graphic letterhead features a picture of the candidate and the words, "Pat McCrory Governer" 2 P.M. Victoria Smith, McCrory's campaign manager, says in an interview, "There's no way this was misspelled ... somebody must have sent that out and hacked into that masthead." 2:30 P.M. The misspelling is fixed in the electronic news release, a graphic that can be updated even as it sits in reporters' computers. Smith said that no one from the campaign made any changes to the graphic and that the hacker who first sabotaged "governor" must have corrected the error. Smith said someone has been hacking McCrory's mayoral Web site for six months. 3 P.M. Colleen Brannan, a spokeswoman helping the campaign with Tuesday's announcement in Jamestown, tells a reporter that "governor" had been misspelled by a graphic designer working with the campaign.
How patenting protects your inventions
But beware: Brent E. Routman, an intellectual property lawyer at Merchant & Gould and also an inventor himself, warns that this one-year grace period only exists in the U.S. and Canada. Making the most of it by taking the full year for deliberation would potentially result in you losing foreign patent rights That's because the patent systems of many large, industrialized countries, including a number of European nations, have "absolute novelty" laws. Once the idea enters the public realm in any way - which can include any communication not covered by a non-disclosure agreement - it is no longer considered a new invention and therefore cannot benefit from patent protection in those countries. .
All change for Ewood derby duel

In came Gretar Steinsson, Ricardo Gardner, Ivan Campo, Danny Guthrie and El-Hadji Diouf to make up what is generally regarded as Megson's strongest possible first 11. .
Ticket to ride: We may be knee-deep in snow (and cold) but that doesn ...
Tom Kunicki's goal for himself this year is to bike as much as he can and to drive as little as possible. "This year I just said I'm going to bike all year," said the 34-year-old resident of Madison who works as a software engineer in Fitchburg. He's off to a good start, putting in 380 miles in January. His commute to work from his residence on Regent Street is easy enough. It 's a 10-mile ride that isn 't hilly and is partly on the Southwest Bike Path and the Capital City Trail. .
