A man was stabbed multiple times in a Lower East Side nail salon yesterday morning, police said. The victim, whose name was not released, was knifed at the Kevin Nail Salon at Clinton Street and East Broadway around 10 a.m. He was treated at Bellevue Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses said cops arrested the stabber shortly after the incident in his nearby apartment. QUEENS An unlicensed massage therapist molested a woman during a rubdown in Flushing, authorities said yesterday. Yong Tao, 27, allegedly fondled the victim twice last month while giving her massages to treat her scoliosis at a facility on Roosevelt Avenue near Main Street. Tao, arrested Tuesday, is charged with eight counts of sexual abuse and unauthorized practice, according to a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown.
CREATIVE CLASSROOMS
Set up four years ago, the school is up to class VI but will extend to class XII next year and will follow both the ICSE Board and the International Baccalaureate system. The classrooms are colourful, their walls decorated with paintings done by students. The objective is to create fun and rewarding learning experiences that would last the children the rest of their learning lives, points out Vael Principal R. Meenakshi. The classrooms do not have more than 20 students each and the stress is more on practical stuff, less on theory. So, the children learn what a cold sensation is in a rather pleasurable way: by visiting an ice cream parlour. A lesson in personal hygiene is given in a beauty parlour and another on fitness in a gym. There are special days like the creepy crawly day, when children learn about insects and a noodle doodle day when they help teachers to make noodles and colour them.
Cyndi Lauper charts fun comeback through dance
POP star Cyndi Lauper is planning a chart comeback through dance music, but isn't worried how music listeners will view her change of genre. Lauper, best known for '80s hits Girls Just Want to Have Fun, True Colours and Time After Time will release a dance album this year. Bring You to the Brink was recorded in London, Paris and Sweden, and features collaborations with dance acts Basement Jaxx, Dragonette and the Scumfrog among others. "I wanted a combination of a lot of different rhythms," Lauper explained. "A lot of times in dance music they process the vocals so much you can't connect to it, there's no warmth, you lose the humanity. "So I saw a medium I'd like to work in, but with a voice that's less processed, more human." Lauper, 54, has sold 25 million-plus albums, while Time After Time has been covered by more than 100 acts from Miles Davis to Matchbox Twenty.
K.J. gets overlooked, but shouldn't | Braves
Love the way he plays, the effort he gives, and he's a class act, too. A couple of years ago, he was signing a ball for me before a game, and my pen died on the "J" and he asked around for another pen so he could finish signing. I can see a lot of guys giving up and moving on to the next autograph, but KJ waited and did it right. Speaking of classy, thanks to Chip for stopping by to blog with the fans…heckuva nice thing to do. I really appreciate the way guys like Chipper and Smoltz go out of their way to help the club (via contract adjustments) and interact with the fans. Counting the days to the start of the season…have a great one, all… .
VOOM portraits bring Brad Pitt to Iowa City
Iowa City, Ia. - On an ordinary day in 1970, Sue Sheehy was working at Henry's, a burger joint across from the Old Capitol, when a customer stopped in and caught her eye. "The boss wasn't around, so I was trying to impress him," she recalled. "I was carrying a tray of grease - very regally, I thought - when he asked me to be in his play." Then a pause. "I thought he was stark raving mad." The customer, as it turned out, was a quiet man named Robert Wilson. .

Kleinhans out as AD in Odem
Odem went 6-4 last season, but a 2-4 finish in District 31-2A kept the Owls out of the playoffs for the second straight year. Increased pressure from the community forced Parker to make a decision. "He's been an excellent coach, but you know how it gets when you're not winning and the community starts complaining that a change is needed," Parker said. "I kind of held off, hoping some of the talk would die down, but it didn't. We figured it would be a good time to do it. It's not a real pleasant thing to do, especially when you like somebody, but sometimes the community speaks louder." Parker said Kleinhans is likely to be reassigned within the athletic department and will remain at the school until his contract expires at the end of the school year. Kleinhans plans to continue his duties for now, but not all of them.
Are the Rangers a dangerous team because they’re flying so ...
But this is a Hall of Fame-sized mess even for a Hall of Fame guy to clean up. Which once-troubled Rangers newcomer will have the bigger year: Milton Bradley or Josh Hamilton? NEW DAWG: Nice one, Ray. Gloom-and-doom question. I have no clue, so Ill go with Bradley. Hes on a one-year deal. Guys on one-year deals always play tough because they want a new contract. BUCK: Give me the guy whose journey from the depths has been the longest: Josh Hamilton. This guy should be out of baseball, or worse, but hes made it back, and so Im banking on that kind of inner-strength and conviction. Hopefully for the Rangers sake Bradley can have a big year, too. Are we so bored with the regular-season Mavs that we expect a trade even when one may not help the team? NEW DAWG: Yes, we are.
Toy Recall Prompts CPSC Reform Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C.Bike manufacturers could feel the backlash from a recent spate of recalls that have raised a cry for stricter product regulation from federal legislators. In the last four months more than 10 million toys have been recalled. In addition, the Consumer Product Safety Commission recently recalled 4.2 million Aqua Dots craft kits. Millions of parents are asking how this could happen. The truth is the agency charged with their childrens safety is hamstrung by a lack of resources and outdated regulations, said Senator Mark Pryor, D-Ark., in a Nov. 8 press release. Pryor, along with co-sponsor Sena-tor Daniel Inouye, D- Hawaii, introduced Senate Bill 2045 to increase the effectiveness of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The bill seeks to authorize additional funding for the agency to increase staff levels, improve antiquated testing facilities, increase CPSC agents at U.S.
