| Durston hopes second time is the charm
Because of what he has termed a "virtual lockstep with the Bush administration," Dr. Bill Durston is ready to take another run at incumbent Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) for California's 3rd Congressional District. This will be the second congressional campaign for the Democrat and political neophyte, who said he wants to end the "career politician's" chokehold on the district and bring a change to the voters. "Politics were never in my game plan," Durston said during an interview with the Ledger Dispatch. "People kept asking me (to run) and I kept asking others to run. I tried to find someone else but they wouldn't, so now it's up to me." Durston, who has had a long career as an emergency room physician and still pulls six 10-hour days, said he was initially skeptical about running for Congress.

Community sports: Cyclist McCune on road to recovery
It's been just over six months since Jenny McCune became a commonality in locals' hearts and prayers. Deirdre Eitel/Chronicle Ed Scheterlak, Jenny McCune's husband, teaches a free class at the Bozeman Yoga Center Tuesday morning during Community Celebration Week to acknowledge the people who have helped him and McCune after she suffered a life-altering bicycle accident in July. On July 5, the former Gallatin Valley Bike Club president, Team Delphine rider and long-time Bozeman resident took a corner too wide on her bicycle, crashed into a ravine and suffered a spinal-cord injury for which doctors have little understanding and no cure.In an instant, McCune went from an elite athlete to a woman without movement below her shoulders. It was a devastating blow to the community, and proved that the growing Bozeman area still has the small-town atmosphere, McCune's husband, Ed Scheterlak said."In some ways the real story is the way the Bozeman community came together: the biking people, the people from the Zen community, those from the environmental community, people from all the gyms, everybody," Scheterlak said.

Candidates press cases for Round 2
I have always admired your family and the things they stood for. I was in college when that fatal day came and we no longer had our inspiration, your brother. I am disappointed in who you are endorsing. To think about all the times that the Clintons were here for you, and now you just put them aside. I think about it, and I thougt you were above the good old boys. Not so sure about that now. Hillary, a women. Maybe that just does not sit well with you Kennedys. I just don't understand. She is a great lady that certainly helped your party out by staying with Bill. The party owes her more than a senate seat. She should have all of you out there shouting her attributes. It was alright for Bill to be used to get votes for our new governor. He also has a short memory. I will have a hard time voting for either one of you because of this.
