There is something about Kalawati...

Primarily it was the brief. I was told that the character they wanted to portray was that of respected Hollywoods star Tom Cruise, from the movie A Few Good Men. The role was macho yet not anti-feminist, held positive perception and plus challenging as it was of a lawyer.A very feminist storyline, yet Sati does justice to your character in every episode. Agree or disagree? A little bit of both actually. I would never want over exposure that would lead to the dilution of the meaning of the serial. The story has substance and the flow needs to be consistent. Too much of me or too much of them would lead to fluctuating peaks in the serial, which might lead to confusion or loss of interest amongst the audience. All I try to deliver is satisfying involvement at all times. But that doesnt mean my character is wasted or unimportant.

Scotland 'can build on Six Nations loss to Ireland'

Given he'll be all the better for that experience we were not entirely without pluses, though there were a lot of errors once again to cut out and nobody would deny that." According to the man they call "Chunk" the decisive moment came 36 seconds after half-time."The key score was Ireland's third try, by my opposite number Marcus Horan."It was a good piece of vision for Ronan O'Gara to pick him out with a cross kick which fell into Horan's hands as he waited unmarked out wide."But the damage was done earlier by ourselves" said Jacobsen. That was a reference to how Scotland were unable to control the kick-off and compounded that mishap by failing to mop up O'Gara's initial towering kick in the heart of the defence. It was a ricochet off Scottish shins when a pass failed to stick that proved the catalyst for the next Irish score which most certainly took the game out of reach though not without real controversy.

Staving Off Transit Doomsday

Chicago last week staved off yet another looming transit doomsday, and for a mere half billion dollars in new taxes.

So guess what big Illinois city needs more money for transit already?

As far as El-pocalypses go, this would have been a doozy. Saying they were out of money, transit authorities in Chicago were prepared to cut 160 bus routes and idle about a third of their buses. They'd have raised some cash fares to more than $3, and they were guessing they'd lose 250,000 or so daily riders.

Now, never mind. Governor Blagojevich imposed a deal and lawmakers took it. The sales tax set aside for transit in Chicago and surrounding counties is going up. There's a new tax on home sales. Downstate Illinois will send more money to prop up a system "which is of no value to them," as state Rep.

Paul Mullett turns up heat on Christine Nixon

POLICE union boss Paul Mullett has increased the war between he and Christine Nixon, accusing the Chief Commissioner of corrupt behaviour.

Sen-Sgt Mullett claimed yesterday to have evidence of Ms Nixon corruptly rewarding several officers after they allegedly helped her in a plot to destabilise the Police Association.

He also claimed senior government figures were involved in the same alleged conspiracy, telling the Herald Sun he was prepared to name the police and government officials at a royal commission or similar inquiry.

Sen-Sgt Mullett said there was an urgent need for such an inquiry and that the Police Association had compelling evidence gathered over four years to present to it.

The Police Association yesterday wrote to Premier John Brumby, the State Opposition and Ms Nixon calling for an independent public inquiry.

City commissioners vote to require owners of vacant structures in ...

“We’ve presented a proposed sign ordinance draft to the Planning Commission, but they decided to continue the issue for, I think, 30 days,” Brown said in a pre-meeting briefing. “If they review (the ordinance) and recommend approval, it could be available by your March night meeting.”

Commissioners also voted to grant the Downtown Merchants Association an exemption to the city’s open-container law from 11 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday during the annual Mardi Gras celebration, and approved a request by Downtown Manager Don Buie to pass an ordinance requiring owners of vacant structures to register the structure with the Planning Department within 10 days of receiving notice of the designation by Code Enforcement.

“It’s a matter of safety,” Buie said after the meeting. “By giving a detailed registration of a vacant structure, the owners will provide police, fire and EMS an accounting of any potential dangers associated with the structure.

Death of Reform, Birth of Reform: Clinton Democrats Face the Obama ...

Obama is poised to win eight straight primaries in the week since Super Tuesday, with only Virginia a bit uncertain at this point. In their staggering spin, the Clinton forces are denying that these eight states matter in comparison with California and New York. This spin will be challenged when and if Obama wins Wisconsin and Hawaii on the 19th, for ten victories in a row. Coming out of Super Tuesday ahead in 14 states to Clinton's eight (some are still counting), that would mean Obama finishes February with 24 states to eight against the former First Lady and a former president popular with Democrats. The delegate totals in those 24 states are more than Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania combined, and even if the Clintons win in those three big states they still stand to lose in the 14 states remaining.

Child-proof chemicals

Hand-held sprayers are a typical means for dispensing weed killers, insecticides and other chemicals.

We're all familiar with these sprayers being made up of a hand-pressurized container and a dispensing wand.

Convenient as they might be, these sprayers are not equipped with child-proof locks. When the sprayers are not in use, oftentimes they are stored with dangerous chemicals still left inside in a garage, alongside bicycles, scooters and other children's toys. Nothing prevents children from gaining access to the sprayers.

This patent rectifies the problem by providing a specially designed child-resistant locking ring on the hand-held sprayer.

Vacuum Packaging Machine

- U.S. Patent No. 7,302,784

- Invented by Rodney Dale Patch, Fort Wayne, and Steven Daniel Harges, Warsaw

- Assigned to DePuy Products Inc., Warsaw

Vacuum packaging, albeit common now, was an important medical advancement because it allowed medical devices, surgical instruments and implants to be sterilized and easily preserved until needed.

Turkey's renaissance and the need for cross cultural communication

Also, the European and American business culture is sometimes hard to digest for some of them. Turks in general want to know their business partners in person, whereas Europeans in general and Americans in particular think mainly about "let's do business". Not being familiar with each other's values and norms does not mean dislike for each other. And as a matter of fact, in the end, most business relations built then became sustainable relationships by now. But many hurdles have to be taken. That is for sure.

The Turkish way

The "Turkish way" of doing business, and more importantly, their business spirit and fine nose for entrepreneurship, can attribute to the European identity, merely because Turkish people are still open and willing, and their enthusiasm can work as a catalyst.

Soldier victim in one scam, pawn in another

I was helping her out with her tuition and I got scammed," he said. "I was on a [forward operating base] most of the time, so any contact with humans helped, so I kind of got milked out of that."

Hallenbeck, who was deployed from June 2006 to June 2007 in Uruzgan province in south-central Afghanistan, declined to disclose how much money he had lost — but said it was far less than the woman who fell for a photo of him.

In an ironic twist of events — and as evidence that online scam artists are thriving — Hallenbeck's name and photo were used to scam a 59-year-old British woman out of thousands of dollars.

Hallenbeck, a former Marine who later joined the Army National Guard, said he found out about the scam involving the British woman only when he was contacted by an Army public affairs officer, who was informed by Army Times.
