Scotsman takes the wheel at Coles
WESFARMERS has lured the chief executive of British car parts and bicycle retailer Halfords to run its newly-acquired Coles supermarket business with a $2 million welcome mat. Scotsman Ian McLeod, 49, whose current employer generates annual revenue of less than 10 per cent of the $20 billion business he will soon be managing, will receive a $2 million signing-on payment, another $2 million in annual salary and stands to make up to $2.4 million in annual bonuses. Wesfarmers managing director Richard Goyder said Mr McLeod had "lived and breathed retail" since joining British retail chain Asda as a graduate trainee in 1981, where he played a leading role in the turnaround engineered by chief executive Archie Norman in the 1990s. Mr Goyder said Mr McLeod was at the top of Wesfarmers's list of candidates to run Coles's food, liquor, fuel and convenience store business, and declared himself unconcerned at the new recruit's association with US retailer Wal-Mart's ill-fated German operation.
Born In Dudley, died at Munich
When I last visited the cemetery, several Manchester United scarves adorned Edwards grave, along with England shirts, flowers and hand written eulogies. The grave itself is well kept and understated, despite being awash with a sea of red and white memorabilia. A lady tending to a nearby grave, noticing my interest, told me that football supporters regularly visit the cemetery to pay their respects. It is clear that for many, Duncan Edwards legacy lives on. This was not only a supremely talented player with an incredible work ethic and desire to improve, but also a modest, affable man with his feet firmly planted on the ground. Childhood fried Jack Wardle had the pleasure of witnessing Duncan's development first-hand: 'I had been away in the RAF when I received a letter from Dunc inviting me down to Wembley to see England play Czechoslovakia.

The values include seeking knowledge and finding answers; thinking ahead; planning and organizing; setting and achieving goals; having the courage to try news things; appreciating those around us; having a positive attitude; and having a winning attitude by seeking out guidance and positive role models. For example, in "Traveling Bear and the Search for Treasure," Traveling Bear and his grandparents head into a cave to search for treasure. Throughout the venture into the cave, T-Bear faces challenges that require him to sustain courage and perseverance in order to achieve the goal of reaching the treasure chest of gems. In "Traveling Bear and the Yellow Flipper Roller Coaster," T-Bear gets a lesson in thinking ahead as he and his friends Mookie and Chuga spend a day at the Big Top Amusement Park.

The troop-bashers in Berkeley are at it once more. But this time, the rest of America lashed back. Message to the Left Coast: It's not the 1960s anymore. On Jan. 29, the Berkeley City Council passed several measures targeting the lone Marine recruitment office in town. The anti-war harridans at Code Pink have been picketing the center for months. Last fall, they defaced the building by slapping a sign that read "assasination" (sic) in the military office window. Instead of rising to defend the recruiters' property rights, the city council and mayor voted to sabotage them further. They granted Code Pink special parking privileges directly in front of the Marines' workplace to facilitate their protests -- and also offered them a free sound permit for six months. In the home of the free speech movement, the peace and love mob abused the power of government to help drive the Marines out of the city.
Hong Kong's economy grew 6.3 percent in 2007; Tsang "cautiously ...
Delivering his budget, Tsang also proposed to immediately exempt the duties on wine, beer and all other alcoholic drinks to promote the local wine trading and distribution industry. The 80 percent duty was halved to 40 percent last year. He also suggested a slew of tax relief measures which included a range of one-off income and property tax rebates, and lowering the standard tax rate. .
